What’s New with Barcode Scanners – from
Barcode scanner continues to evolve and each generation of barcode scanners provides more capabilities at lower cost. Motorola (Symbol) recently announced the latest Motorola Barcode Scanner MT2000 mobile terminal, which offers superior ability to capture data with the widest range of connectivity options and is really a computer within a barcode scanner handheld. Barcode scanners have been around for decades and have continued to evolve as technology general purpose computing were incorporated into the latest versions of barcode scanners hand. Many of these improvements to laser scanners and bar code imagers were incremental in nature, so that provides us with barcode scanners containing more functionality at lower prices. This has allowed the bar code scanners for use in applications in an increasingly wide range of industries. However, barcode scanners hand were essentially "dumb" peripheral devices for data capture, such as a keyboard. Now, however, with the latest developments in barcode scanners hand, who have risen to become a "computer-within-reader."
Before reviewing some recent advances in the technologies of barcode scanner, first let's review some key features of barcode scanners. These key features include barcode criteria: 1) scanner data capture technology for bar code scanner, specifically, bar code laser scanning bar code scanning front chamber, 2) symbology support for 1D, 2D and others, 3) the bar code scanner which means shorter vs industrial (or industrial readers) handheld scanners and grade 4) bar code technologies, including cable interface and wireless technologies to scan the bar code. The bar code scanner most basic and possibly the most widely used type of bar code scanner is a laser providing laser scanning bar code 1D, with a plastic housing medium-duty and the cable connects to a PC via a keyboard or USB interface. Examples of these types of scanners, handheld barcode scanner would be the Motorola barcode LS9208i, the barcode scanner Metrologic Mk9540, or PSC QS6000 Plus Honeywell barcode reader.
At the other end of the spectrum of barcode scanners hand, there are cordless scanners barcode, such as the Motorola (Symbol) P470 barcode reader wireless Phaser (which are often queues at the Home Depot boxes) or Metrologic MS9535 VoyagerBT barcode scanner wireless POS. The P470 wireless handheld scanner uses 2.4GHz wireless technology (think cordless phone), while the hand of VoyagerBT Metrologic scanner uses wireless Bluetooth technology. Historically, the use of bar code scanners, wireless has been somewhat limited due to cost, but this is becoming less of a problem as the price of these devices end with the recognition that the most common point of failure scanner handheld bar code is the cable. Motorola has taken handheld scanners bar code at a higher level of the introduction of MT2000 mobile terminal (which is actually a very elegant name for a barcode scanner handheld wireless), which supports a wide range of standards Wireless (Cordless), including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11 technology. This scanner handheld bar code can not only read 1D barcodes and 2D, but can also provide data capture for DPM and images. Perhaps most surprisingly, this new barcode scanner handheld Windows CE supports making it a real team-in-a-scanner device. You really now have all the computing functionality you need in a handheld scanner, including the ability to keyboard input and view data.
